Kingpin Specialists Covid-19 Response

As many would agree 2020 has proven to be an extremely challenging year for everyone.  With the continued threat of Covid- 19, Kingpin Specialists continue providing service to our customers.  We have modified the way we provide our service as well as continue to take the proper precautions to protect our employees and customers.  Please take a moment to see what actions we have taken to ensure the proper safety precautions, below.

  1. We have equipped all of our technicians with masks, gloves, and the proper sanitizers.
  2. Our Technicians will no longer meet customers in their offices or indoors.  Instead the tech will call when he is on sight and ensure there is proper social distancing when interacting with customers.
  3. For the technicians that are servicing regions where Covid-19 cases are on the rise, our techs will be able to safely self-quarantine because we have equipped them with travel trailers.  The travel trailers cut down on the amount of possible exposures due to staying in hotels and eating out at restaurants.
  4. Kingpin Specialists is a registered member of the National Business Emergency Operations (NBEOC) through FEMA’s National Response Coordination Center. The NBEOC was created to enhance communication and collaboration with private industry partners to ensure their integration into disaster operations at a strategic and tactical level.

Kingpin Specialists provides the highest quality of Kingpin Repair to ensure the proper level of safety required by the Department of Transport.  It is our job to safely take care of our customers so that they can take care of theirs.

Please Keep In Mind….

As we are all learning how to productively navigate through these times there are two things we ask that you keep in mind.

  1. Scheduling repairs will be crucial.  Although we will continue to do our best to keep all scheduling within the usual 2-week time frame, we ask for your patience if repairs need to be rescheduled or the time frame to complete repairs needs to be pushed back.
  2. Unfortunately, some areas will see increased prices, or reduced coverage while Covid-19 travel restrictions are in place. Even though we are “Essential Workers”, at times we must stay on the border of a hot spot and commute to complete repairs due to short stays not being allowed in that area.

As always, we will continue to accommodate our customers and their needs to the best of our ability.  In addition, we ask for your support and patience during these times of uncertainty.

There’s More to a Kingpin than People Realize- The Heavy Duty Parts Report

Richard Lefebvre sits down with Jamie Irvine to discuss the importance of Kingpin Repair.

The Heavy Duty Parts Report with Jamie Irvine

Learn the importance of taking care of your kingpin, and about the experts who will help ensure your fleet’s trailers stay on the road.

Episode 50: Lowering your cost-per-mile starts with buying high-quality parts and ends with using high-quality services and stringent maintenance standards. Be honest, how often do you give any thought to your kingpin?

Question 1: Why do people seem to forget about the kingpin?

It’s the most important part of the connection, but yet it is often overlooked because of its simple task.

Question 2: Can you give us an overview of what Kingpin Specialists does?

Try to find where the damage takes place on the kingpins, and how to get it back under control to be able to maintain, and get the most life out of your trailers, and kingpins.

Question 3: Describe to me who your perfect customer is?

One that has wear problems on their kingpins and trailers, who need help finding, and fixing their problem.

Question 4: Tell me more about the repair services you offer?

We dig deep and evaluate the trailers, and pins that are affected, and in turn search for the root cause of the problem. From there we book times to make the repairs.

Question 5: What role does engineering play in what your company does?

Engineering our products was essential from the beginning to keep our standards high, and to reach those standards.

Question 6: If there is one thing you want the listeners to take away from today’s conversation, what is that one thing?

Liability now is the biggest thing. By having a company that does nothing but specialize in ensuring that your trailer makes it to its destination safe.

Trailer Upper Coupler Least-Maintained Truck Component

Even since the Technology and Maintenance Council released its RP 750 report on the recommended practices for maintaining the “upper coupler structure of commercial van and flatbed trailers equipped with two-inch kingpins in a fixed-position coupler,” kingpin maintenance has not been given the importance it requires.

It’s The Little Details That Affect a Truck’s Performance

I read an interesting article on TruckingInfo.com about the myriad problems a trucker can have with something that is (on the surface, anyway) remarkably simple: wheel-ends. I’ll certainly be the first one to admit that I’m probably not the best person to be writing this article, as I’ve not got much in the way of vehicle maintenance experience myself, but I found it fascinating the number of seemingly insignificant details that have a large affect on a truck’s performance.

Why King Pin Repair Makes More Sense Than Replacement

Every semi-truck or tractor-trailer depends on one small piece of equipment for its connection. It’s called the King Pin. This is a pin which connects the trailer to the ‘fifth-wheel’. The receiving piece on the truck is is a horse-shoe shaped platform attached to the tractor. It’s the pivot point between the two units and receives a great deal of wear and tear. Eventually, king pin repair or replacement becomes necessary on all working rigs.read more
